A PTC relay is used to monitor the maximum temperature of a motor winding, for example, together with single or triple PTC thermistor sensors.
A maximum of six temperature resistors can be connected to this relay.
In the normal state, the relay is energized. When the nominal temperature is reached, the resistance of the PTC sensor increases sharply. At that point, the PTC relay trips. When the temperature drops again and with it the resistance of the PTC sensor, the relay is energized again.
